“Can’t be too careful,” Ray muttered as he packed his wallet and passport into a pouch he’d wear under his clothing.  “I’ve read the warnings in the travel books.” I turned to him.  “You’ll be fine. Europe is a lot like the United States.”  He threw me a yeah-right look.  “Pickpockets everywhere.  Scammers at the train station. I’ve heard stories.”
